There is no particular program for becoming a
probation officer or
parole officer, but a university degree in one of the following areas is generally required:
- Criminology
- Psychology
- Psychoeducation
- Sociology
- Social Work
Experience working with people in
detention centres is also an asset.
On-the-job training is provided by the employer once a person is hired for this job.
